Sarveshwar Dayal Saxena was born on September 15, 1927, in the Basti district of Uttar Pradesh. He was a renowned poet, storyteller, playwright, children’s writer, and journalist in modern Hindi literature. His writings vividly portray the life of the common man, social ironies, and deep human emotions. He is regarded as one of the major poets of the Nayi Kavita (New Poetry) movement. His style is known for its simplicity, sharpness, and satirical edge.

Saxena worked as an editor for the magazine Dinman and earned a distinct place in the literary world. His poetry inspired social awareness and a spirit of change. He was also a very popular writer of children’s literature.
